Fragmented Wholeness Mosaic Painting


Furthering this exploration, the painting Fragmented Wholeness became a reflection of the mosaic-like self, integrating disparate aspects of identity. Inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold, this painting highlights the beauty in imperfection and the transformative process of individuation. The interplay of shadow and light symbolizes the integration of conscious and unconscious aspects of the psyche, emphasizing the idea that our broken pieces are integral to our wholeness. Susan Roland & Joel (wisehouse) Weishaus define individuation as, “a process of becoming a distinctive person by creatively integrating more and more unruly energies that appear from the unknown psyche.” Their interplay conveys the intricate and multifaceted nature of who we are. The path to individuation is not linear; it weaves through uncertainty and discomfort. Imagine looking at these pieces through a looking glass where only one is visible at a time.
